Why should i pray?

Prayer serves many purposes, we pray because it’s a way to communicate with God who sees our hearts and knows all things, so by communing with the heart in prayer we experience God’s presence and align one self’s into God’s will for our life’s. Jesus often prayed to stay in God’s will.

But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed Luke 5:16

We Pray to God to build our faith trusting in God’s promise that our prayers are not in vain. Prayer helps to  build diligence, patients and perseverance.

Prayer is our primary means of seeing God work in your life and the life’s of others.

6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6–7

When we speak to God in prayer we are not only seeking the answer, but the discernment of God’s will for our life’s. When the answer is delayed we must continue to pray and trust that God’s wisdom in withholding is for our benefits. During this process we will grow in faith and the holy spirit will comfort and guide us.

26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

Romans 8:26–27

Prayer is a form of serving God and obeying Him as seen when the prophetess Anna, worshiped God with fasting and praying.

36 And there was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived with her husband seven years from when she was a virgin, 37 and then as a widow until she was eighty-four.5 She did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day. 38 And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.

(Luke 2:36-38)

“This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.

14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:9-15
